The tree-lined streets of Chicago's historic Old Town Triangle District will again provide a charming setting for the 59th Old Town Art Fair, the oldest and most prestigious juried outdoor art fair of its kind. Produced by the Old Town Triangle Association, this annual fundraiser benefits a host of local schools, youth groups and neighborhood preservation projects. With the support of more than 750 neighborhood volunteers, this year's Fair will be held on June 14 and 15 from 10am to 6pm rain or shine. The main gate is at Lincoln and Wisconsin Avenues. Requested donation is $7.00 ($5.00 after 4:00) ; there is no requested donation for children 12 and under.+Neighborhood parking is extremely limited. Public transportation is highly recommended. Proceeds benefit a host of local youth groups, schools, and neighborhood preservation projects. The 2008 Old Town Art Fair will host 260 nationally acclaimed artists chosen by an independent jury of professional artists, gallery owners and museum curators. On display will be 2D and 3D - mixed media, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, and works in metal, stone and wood.+ LIVE MUSIC will again be featured on the Old Town Art Fair Music Stage, at the corner of Orleans Street and Wisconsin Avenue. Come and dance, clap your hands, sing along, or just chill out to an exciting music line-up. GARDEN WALK provides a Self-Guided Historic Tour through more than 30 beautiful urban home gardens. View gardens not normally open to the public, and gather great ideas for that urban or suburban garden of your own. CHILDREN'S CORNER will offer a multitude of art projects and entertainment for younger fair-goers.Always a popular venue among the kids (and adults). FOOD COURT offerings have been enhanced and expanded to tantalize your taste buds. Sample a variety of cuisines from the City's favorite restaurants both in and out of Old Town. HISTORIC TOUR This self-guided tour samples the architecture of the Historic district of Old Town, which is both a Chicago Landmark District, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Use the annual Souvenir Catalog to guide yourself through time, with historical commentary describing the architecture, area and specific buildings and homes. . |
